Halloween is one of my favorite holidays to decorate for. I love mixing in daily decor with seasonal items to bring my home to life! This is a season as much for the kids as it is for me, so I have them in mind when putting together ideas we can all enjoy. One of my favorite things to style is the dining table. As a focal point for entertaining, this space almost always gets the most attention in my home. Here are a few simple ways I love to bring a spooky tablescape to life!
Start with the Canvas
Adding a runner to a table can help create visual balance. For the Halloween season, I like bringing in creativity to this classic tablescape choice by using a distressed fabric. You can rip up scrap fabric you already have or buy fabric in the Halloween section at your local craft store.
Layers on Layers
Layer your place settings. Start with a charger—the one used here is slate, so I embellished with fun Halloween quotes and a chalk marker. The second layer is the Arhaus Avignon scalloped salad plate. The scalloped edges add character to the place settings and add contrast on the dark slate. I recommend layering in odd numbers, so for the last layer I added is a calderon bowl—I chose to fill mine with moss, a dried gourd, and some plastic spiders and snakes.
Ever wonder how people create that foggy look at Halloween parties? The answer is dry ice! It completely brings the table to life. It’s such a fun element to add in and everyone is sure to love it!
