Meet the Jewelry Artisan: Robindira Unsworth
When our product development team came across Robindira Unsworth’s jewelry designs, they completely fell in love. Her collection captures the easy aesthetic of Northern California fused with the cultures of the Middle East, Asia, and North Africa. Taking inspiration from traveling, nature, and the human spirit, she designs one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces like no other.
Unsworth is a dreamer and designer who creates unique, exotic and handmade jewelry in her studio in Petaluma, California. As the daughter of an independent filmmaker and clothing designer, her design sense was formed at an early age. As a child, she would spend her afternoons in her mother’s atelier—sorting buttons, color-coordinating her mother’s vast collection of fabrics, and reading countless issues of Vogue and Bazaar. Robindira would dream of the days when she would be grown up enough to wear runway fashion.
As an adult, Unsworth chose to work in social services instead of on fashion runways. While working with populations such as AIDS patients, dementia patients, and adults with developmental disabilities, she learned to appreciate the strength and beauty of the human spirit. Through the strength and resiliency she saw during her social services career, she rediscovered her desire to create. She turned her eye to jewelry making, combining rustic silver, gold, semi precious stones and precious diamonds.
Unsworth has consistently been recognized as a trendsetter by top fashion publications such as In Style, Marie Claire, Bazaar, Elle, The New York Times, Oprah, and Allure. Her collection has also been featured in numerous editorial spreads and magazine covers, particularly the cover of Sports Illustrated 2014 swimsuit issue. Her jewelry is a favorite among many stylish women in Hollywood; Jennifer Aniston, Kate Winslet, Uma Thurman, Jada Pinkett Smith, Debra Messing, and Jennifer Love Hewitt have all worn stunning pieces from Robindira’s collection.
